1. How do the rankings work?
It's real simple - you move up for playing games and winning. You move down for not playing games and losing. You're placed at the bottom when you sign-up. You choose who and when you want to challenge. Our system will automatically calculate your ranking as you enter your results. It's that easy - the more you play and win, the higher your rank.

2. How do I determine my skill level and division?
We are committed to ensuring matched evenly in your division. We use the information you provide on your tennis background to group you with others who are at similar skill levels. The league is composed of the following seven divisions:

  Co-ed Doubles: Intermediate and Advanced
  Male Singles: Intermediate and Advanced
  Female Singles: Intermediate and Advanced
  Co-ed Singles: Beginner

  NRTP Levels (click to view)

5. How do I move up the rankings?
It's real simple - you move up for playing games and winning. You move down for not playing games and losing. You're placed at the bottom of the Rankings when you join and you may challenge anyone from Day 1. You move up a maximum of 3 spots if you win your challenge. If you are challenged and lose, you move down one spot. No ranking change occurs if a challenge is unsuccessful. You can also move up and down the ladder simply by the number of games you play (see Two-Week Rule below).

6. How do I challenge an opponent?
Challenging opponents is easy! Just challenge anyone in the rankings to a game using our friendly system. If your opponent accepts your challenge, you will pick the time and location of your match at the local courts in your area. After your match, you will enter the result in your profile and our system will automatically adjust your standings.

7. What do I do when I am challenged?
When you are challenged you will receive an email from your opponent through our system. You will then respond to the email with your preferred time and location of play AND login to your My Ladder to accept or reject the challenge. Failure to accept or reject the challenge in the system will result in an automatic drop in the rankings.

8. What is the 2-week Rule?
You can move up the rankings quickly by simply playing games regardless of whether you win or lose. At the end of every two-weeks, players that have played a match are moved up the Rankings until they bump into another player that has played a game. Then the player that was bumped into is moved up the Rankings until that player bumps into another player that has played a game. The same movement happens down the Rankings for not playing games. Our system does all the calculations for you.

9. What is Holiday Status and can I pause my membership?
You may turn your Holiday Status on for a total of 45 days per year. When your holiday status is on, opponents cannot contact you for games and you will not lose your spot in the Rankings.

10. How often and where do we play?
You may play as often as you like, and you and your opponents choose the location of your games. Challenger attempts to play at the higher-ranking player's chosen location within the local location of the Rankings. Popular game locations include public parks and schools in your neighborhood.

11. Who brings the balls?
Both players bring a new can of tennis balls to the match. The lower ranked player opens their cans of balls for match play. The winner of the match gets the unopened can and the loser gets the balls used in the match.

12. What happens if my scheduled game is canceled?
Please re-schedule your game at a time that works for both players/teams. If both of you cannot agree on another time, simply cancel the match from your My Ladder and no ranking change will occur.

13. How do create a profile?
Your profile is created when you register for the league. You may edit your profile and add a picture at any time by hitting the "edit profile" link on the menu bar.

14. What happens when I select the wrong winner for a game?
If you accidentally select the wrong winner for a game, please click the "Reset Winner" button and a confirmation email will be sent to your opponent. When your opponent also clicks the "Reset Winner" button, the game will be reset so you can then select the correct winner.

16. How do I enter the result of my match?
In order to enter the result for a match, you must challenge an opponent through the system and not by email or phone. When your opponent accepts your challenge, the will be displayed in a section titled “Accepted Matches to Play”. This is where you will see the icons “I won” or “I lost”. Clicking either icon will allow you to enter the scores for the match. If your opponent has not accepted the challenge, please contact them to do so. If they do not respond, please send us the opponent name, who won and the scores, and we can enter the result for you.

17. How do I enter the result of my match if my opponent forfeited?
Simply mark yourself as the winner and enter 0-0 for each set of the match.
